What is the difference between formal and distance education?
In traditional or formal learning, the pupil and teacher must be present in person. In distance education, the pupil and teacher need not be present in a classroom setting to attain knowledge.

Regular education makes it compulsory for the students and teachers to be present in person and attend the classrooms regularly. In contrast, distance education is self-paced learning where no physical presence of students and teachers is required.
